Saint Simon

Saint Simon, also known as the Zealot, was one of Jesus’ apostles and, according to legend, was the bridegroom at the wedding in Cana of Galilee and therefore witnessed Jesus’ first public appearance and the first miracle. After Jesus’ death, he travelled with St. Jude Thaddeus to Egypt, Syria, Mesopotamia and Persia, where they were both put to death as martyrs. His attributes include a sword, an axe, a club, a saw and a cross according to the different versions of the instrument that was supposed to have killed him. He is the patron saint of dyers, tanners, woodcutters, weavers and masons.
