St. Felix of Valois

Felix was born to an old French noble family in 1127. Since his young age, he was very compassionate. For a long time he lived as a hermit. Around the year of 1194, he met John of Matha and together they founded the Order of the Holy Trinity for the Redemption of Captives that specialized in buying Christian slaves captured by the Saracenes. Felix became the first abbot of the Trinitarian monastery of Cerfroi and helped the order to grow. He died in 1212 and was canonized in 1666. His attributes are a white stag with a cross between its antlers (according to legend, the Trinitarians built their main monastery at the place where they saw the stag in a dream), a Turk, captives, and broken chains.
